All Evapolar coolers work according to an evaporative principle.
Here is what happens after you fill the water tank:
Within 5-10 minutes, the cartridge absorbs a huge amount of water. The water then spreads evenly on the surface of the cooling pads. When the hot air goes through the pads, the water absorbs the heat and at the same time saturates the air with water. The built-in fan helps the cool air spread around the area up to 2 - 3 m² (22 - 33 ft²) around you. |
This process uses much less energy than other methods of refrigeration.
The cooling potential for evaporative cooling depends on the relative humidity in the room and on the initial temperature. Hotter and drier air leads to a bigger difference in the temperatures. On the table below you can see the relation between air humidity and the temperature drop*.
